Welcome
The Board of Directors of the Leukemia Foundation of Arizona (LFA) welcome you to our website. Our Foundation is an entirely voluntary organization established in 1972 by a group of dedicated physicians and nurses to provide for the immediate help and attention required by families of children with leukemia. Our website has been designed to provide an understanding of what leukemia is, how it impacts families, and what our foundation does in providing support to those families…
The LFA board of directors is comprised of approximately ten healthcare and business professionals. LFA is one of the few recognized charitable organizations which have absolutely no paid staff. This results in an administrative expense to program funds ratio of less than 10%.
The foundation, a certified 501C3 chartered organization, reaches out its helping hand both materially and emotionally to Arizona families. While the aid is limited to children less than 21, it is given freely, quickly, and with respect for the individual’s dignity. In addition to financial aid, LFA supports several different services for stricken children and their families. See the patient and family services page for specifics.
LFA qualifies for the Arizona Working Poor Tax Credit Program (ARS 43-1088) allowing contributors to LFA to claim a tax credit on Arizona taxes. Refer to the HOW YOU CAN HELP page for information.
Leukemia is a devastating disease that can have a terrible impact on a child and the entire family. LFA’s mission is to help families cope with those issues and provide quick and direct assistance.
